Sened — business verification for Ethiopia
Verify a company, its registration and the real people behind it. Sened is in development; this page describes where it is going.
In development Not yet available for integration.
Sened (ሰነድ — “document”) extends Emnet from people to organisations. Where Emnet Identity answers “is this a real, verified person?”, Sened answers “is this a real, registered business, and are these really its owners?”
What we are building
Business registration checks
Confirm a trade name, registration number and status against Ethiopian commercial registry data.
Owner and director verification
Each named owner or director is verified as a person through Emnet Identity — the same claims, the same assurance levels, the same pseudonymous keys.
Beneficial-ownership mapping
Structured relationships between a business and the verified individuals behind it, so you can see who ultimately controls an account.
One integration
The same API keys, the same authentication, the same error and rate-limit conventions you already use for Identity.
Business verification has a different data source, a different consent model and a different regulatory shape from personal verification. Folding it into Emnet Identity would blur an interface that a lot of our customers’ compliance evidence depends on. Sened will share the platform and the credentials, and stay its own product.
Built on Identity
Sened depends on Emnet Identity rather than duplicating it. A director is verified exactly the way any individual is — which means the same claims-only guarantee applies: you learn that a named person is verified and receive their pseudonymous key, not their national identifier.
Timeline and early access
We are designing Sened with a small number of customers who already run Emnet Identity in production and have a concrete KYB need. If that is you, we would rather build against your real requirements than guess at them.
Write to sales@emnetid.com with what you need to verify and how you verify it today, and we will bring you into the design conversation.
